Rendering Codes – 3D Printed Facade Elements

Concrete facades resulting from 3d printing processes can enable a high degree of differentiation and modulation making prefabricated concrete highly versatile and individualisable. For this demonstrator, a hexagonal pattern was the starting point to generate a series of interlocking pieces with a gradual change in texture.
The concrete assembly was mounted onto a surface rendered in thermoreactive coating, potentially enabling facades to change their color based on different temperature, thus making buildings function as a display for specific environmental factors.
